Your IT organization is delivering.

But is it delivering the right things - and does leadership know it?

Technology Leverage Diagnostic

"Learning from and working with Michael has been the highlight of my career. His partnership played a key role in elevating the role of IT in my organization, turning IT into a revenue generator bringing in over $187m in grants." — Karl, CIO, Large NGO

The performance is real. The visibility gap is even more real.

Every CIO is managing more complexity than the organization fully sees. You're navigating competing priorities, underfunded capabilities, political headwinds, and a leadership team that measures IT in the wrong currency. Meanwhile your team is delivering - and the strategic value of that delivery is only partially visible to the people who control your budget and mandate.

The challenge isn't effort. It's knowing which factors disproportionately limit everything else - and whether the organization understands what IT is actually producing.

Most IT assessments produce an average score across dozens of dimensions and hand you a prioritized list of gaps to close. The Technology Leverage Diagnostic (TLD) works differently. Using the CxO Amplify Keystone Method across 12 operating model components, it identifies the factors whose improvement produces the greatest systemic acceleration - and sequences everything else from there. Most clients say the findings feel uncomfortably accurate. That's not coincidence. It's pattern recognition drawn from hundreds of IT organizations that looked a lot like yours.

Many clients pair this diagnostic with the AI Readiness Diagnostic - because the factors limiting IT performance and the factors limiting AI value are often the same. When the two are run together the findings reinforce each other and the path forward becomes significantly clearer.

HOW IT WORKS

12 components. Four groups. One sequenced path forward.

The Technology Leverage Diagnostic assesses your IT operating model across 12 components organized into four groups - each one measuring a different dimension of how IT creates and communicates value.

  • Direction - What are we working toward? Purpose & Strategic Alignment, Financial Stewardship, Governance & Decision Velocity, Organizational Culture & Change, Leadership Effectiveness

  • Execution - Can we actually deliver? Talent & Organization, Technology Data & Innovation, Delivery & Execution

  • Connection - Are we solving the right problems? Business Partnership & Co-Creation, Executive & Board Influence, Ecosystem & Market Partnerships

  • Value - Can anyone see the impact? Value Realization & Communication

Each component is scored against the IT Capability Spectrum - a six-stage model from Utility through Vanguard that describes how IT organizations actually operate, not how they aspire to operate. The primary constraint emerges from the pattern - the component whose improvement produces the greatest systemic acceleration. Everything else sequences from there.

WHAT YOU GET

A report that tells you exactly where to start.

The Technology Leverage Diagnostic produces a detailed report built around four elements:

Your Archetype: One of seven distinct profiles, each describing a different IT operating model pattern - different constraint, different intervention, different sequencing. The archetype names what your organization is actually doing, not what it intends to do. Most clients recognize themselves immediately.

The Pattern Across Four Dimensions: Four diagnostic maps showing your position across capability, governance, technology, and organizational alignment. When all four converge - as they typically do - the pattern is confirmed, not coincidental.

Three Focus Areas: Sequenced by the CxO Amplify Keystone Method - not a list of improvements but a specific order of operations. The primary constraint first. The return on everything else compounds from there.

The 12-Month Roadmap: A realistic timeline with specific first moves for each focus area. The roadmap shows what the organization gains at each stage. The scorecard behind it shows the evidence behind every finding.

The Seven Archetypes

Every diagnostic produces one of seven profiles.

The Hidden Engine

Delivers more than the organization knows. The work is there. The story isn't.

The Rudderless Boat

Capable team, no direction that holds under pressure. Motion is not the same as momentum.

The Right Fit

Operating exactly where the mandate requires. Rarer than it sounds. The question is what comes next.

The Outpacer

IT has built ahead of the organization's ability to direct it. High horsepower, insufficient traction.

The Almost Partner

Competent, respected, not quite sought out. The last mile of the partnership hasn't closed.

The Overextended Pioneer

Ambitious, capable, ahead of the field - and running on a foundation that hasn't fully caught up yet.

The Misaligned Compass

IT and the organization are operating from different definitions of success. The gap is undeclared.

Which one describes your organization? The diagnostic tells you - along with exactly what to do about it.

WHAT THIS IS NOT

This is not a maturity model. It does not score your organization against an industry benchmark or tell you where you rank relative to peers. It does not produce a capability gap report or a 17-point improvement plan.

It identifies the factors most limiting your organization's IT performance - and the specific sequence of moves most likely to unlock it.

One note worth naming: if your CEO fundamentally sees IT as a cost center regardless of what you communicate, this diagnostic will surface that. It's called the Expectations Gap - and it's a different problem with a different intervention. It will be named.

Not sure if this diagnostic fits your situation? That's exactly what the first conversation is for.
